Local pizzerias dished up thousands of slices to pizza lovers during the second annual Vaughan Pizzafest July 14 to 16 at the Woodbridge Fairgrounds.
The organizers of the event, which has quickly gained popularity and is attracting people from Vaughan and surrounding communities, chose to partner with Mackenzie Health Foundation and Mackenzie Health Volunteer Association (MHVA) to raise awareness and funds in support of the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.
Throughout the weekend, the MHVA held a 50/50 raffle and Pizzafest organizers offered “a Canada 150 experience” that included an appetizer, pizza and dessert with wine pairings prepared by a celebrity chef.
Proceeds from that experience and the raffle totaled $6,000 in support of Mackenzie Health Foundation’s Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign to build and equip Mackenzie Vaughan hospital.
