Special Events

The outpouring of support from our community during the COVID-19 pandemic inspired us to keep our annual events running in 2020. This year, to ensure the health and safety of our community, we shifted to a virtual format for Ride for Health and Strides for Stroke, made modifications to Tee Off for Health and converted our annual gala into an un-gala. The need for support has never been greater as we continue to build and equip Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. Let’s help raise funds to benefit Mackenzie Health because we’re in this together even when apart.

Ultimate Un-Gala

This year, to keep our guests and community safe, we’ve introduced the Ultimate Un-Gala, a fundraiser that’s centred around philanthropy and generosity — because we still need support to make our two-hospital vision a reality. Past sponsors and ticket holders are invited to become donors, and give directly to Mackenzie Health what they would have given to our in-person gala.

Our goal is to raise $750,000, allowing us continue our work at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and enhance care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. We’re so close to reaching our $250-million campaign goal and it’s up to our community to help us get to the finish line.

As part of the Ultimate Un-Gala, we held an online auction that featured hundreds of exceptional items. We’re proud to share that the auction raised nearly $40,000 towards lifesaving equipment and advanced technology at Mackenzie Health. Thank you to all those who participated and congrats to our auction winners!

UniversalCare Strides for Stroke

Strides for Stroke is one of our longest-running and most cherished community events. It is a 5K run/walk and fundraiser in support of stroke care at Mackenzie Health.

On October 17, camaraderie was felt by all who ran or walked their own route in the 15th annual UniversalCare Strides for Stroke event.

Thank you to our participants, sponsors, donors and committee members for raising a net amount of more than $204,000, and to our striders who completed their 5K race to support stroke care in our community.

Funds raised allow us to transform stroke care at the Sorbara District Stroke Centre for York Region and the Sorbara Integrated Stroke Unit at the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.

Since 2006, Strides for Stroke has raised more than $2 million, helping to fund education programs, technology upgrades and lifesaving equipment for those affected by stroke. We’re so grateful to our community for helping us deliver the ultimate in stroke care to southwest York Region and beyond.

Ride for Health

Ride for Health is an exclusive cycling and fundraising event — reimagined as a virtual event for 2020 — in support of Mackenzie Health.

Thank you to our participants, sponsors, donors and committee members for raising a net amount of $330,000, and to our cyclists who completed their 25/60/100K ride on October 4 to benefit Cortellucci Vaughan and Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospitals.

Since the event’s inception in 2015, Ride for Health has raised more than $1 million towards lifesaving equipment, technology and other critical hospital upgrades.

Tee Off for Health

Tee Off for Health, previously known as the Proud Partners Classic, is an exclusive golf and fundraising event to benefit Mackenzie Health.

At the 25th annual tournament on September 16, 2020, community and business leaders came out to play 18 holes of golf at Eagles Nest Golf Club. Together, they raised an impressive $160,000 in support of the ultimate care at Mackenzie Health. Delicious food stations, prizes and fun on-course activities rounded out the picture-perfect day on the links. Thanks to all those who joined us!

Since 1995, our golf event has raised more than $2.7 million towards critical health care programs and urgently needed equipment. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our Tee Off for Health supporters, we can continue to provide world-class care to patients and families, close to home.
