The Seniors Association of Vaughan Initiative (SAVI) is an engaged and longtime community partner of Mackenzie Health Foundation in advocating and raising funds for Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. With a membership of more than 3,700 seniors, this thriving organization’s theme, Venturing Together, speaks to its mandate of collaboration and advocacy for an improved quality of life for seniors in the City of Vaughan. Proceeds from a range of fundraising activities, including the popular Bingo Rama at Vellore Village Community Centre, have helped SAVI to proudly contribute $10,000 to the future hospital in Vaughan and the Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign.

In February of this year, the Foundation was saddened by the passing of our loyal friend and passionate advocate, SAVI president Isabella Ferrara. Since the inception of SAVI in 2003, she was dedicated to creating unity and friendship among seniors and the community, with a focus on building a culture of diversity and inclusion. In recognition of her lifetime of giving back to her community, Isabella was recognized in 2016 as one of the first 25 recipients of the Order of Vaughan, the highest honour the City can present to a citizen.
