The past year has been groundbreakingBecause of you, our donors and friends
The past year has been groundbreaking – quite literally, with shovels in the ground for the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital – because of you, our donors and friends.
A passionate commitment to world-class care close to home has motivated a growing number of physicians and staff to take on leadership roles as champions, ambassadors and donors under the campaign’s culture of generosity banner.
Remarkable volunteers and organizations are hosting a growing number of initiatives that are providing crucial community support for our hospital. Our dedicated signature events volunteers and staff continue to break new ground, raising more than $3.15 million this past year.
As we build for an exciting and innovative future, we are grateful to be celebrating a 40-year tradition of your generosity, caring and partnership that has brought us to this exciting chapter in Mackenzie Health’s history.

Together, we are exceptional.
Because Of You...Your support enabled the Foundation to invest $1.86 million in Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital for improved patient care, equipment and educational bursaries, as well as set aside more than $21 million in new gifts to fund Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.
901 monthly donors contributed $184,514 last year
As we mark our 40th anniversary of service to our community, we are celebrating you, our more than 9,300 exceptional donors, whose investments saw Mackenzie Health Foundation achieve the most successful fiscal year in its history. More than $14.7 million in revenue was raised and confirmed pledges to the $250-million Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign now stand at $49.8 million. Eighteen leadership gifts of $1 million and higher have been committed, including transformative gifts of $10 million from Vic De Zen and family, and $5 million from the Sorbara/Tanzola family.
The impact of your generous support, which helps to fund state-of-the-art equipment and technology, is best told in the words of our patients, who are grateful for the exceptional care they receive close to home. Patients like Lisa Cilia, who was diagnosed with rare calcified stones that had fused together in her kidneys. Fortunately, Mackenzie Health is a leader in minimally invasive surgery to treat kidney stones. A decade ago, removal of Lisa’s kidney stones would have warranted a large wrap-around incision, seven-day hospital stay and months of recovery, with the risk of permanent kidney damage. Instead, Lisa had three minimally invasive surgeries, spent just two nights in hospital and six weeks off work. She’s now healthy and active, with three tiny scars to show for her experience.
